Founded in 1986, multiplex has developed swiftly but surely to become a global market leader in the field of boarding systems, offering top-quality products based on carbon fibre – gangways, ladders, railings, fender launch systems and sun awnings in the most exclusive design. As well as being supremely stylish, they have the features that are needed on all yachts – they are lightweight, easy to handle and moreover they are absolutely rustproof and highly resistant to environmental influences such as salt water. 

However, like so many, the brand started out quite straightforward. After training as a boat builder at his parents‘ shipyard, multiplex founder Jan Reiners was part of the crew that won the Admiral’s Cup in 1983. At that time he thought about makting yachts lighter and more competitive and began to experiment with carbon as a material and was soon manufacturing in his own building in Bremen-Vegesack, Germany’s super yacht valley. Today, 80 of the 100 largest mega yachts have multiplex products on board; 20 designers and carbon specialists now take care of the demanding clientele.
